Alright so...
I am also thinking about doing protective styles for the rest of the damn year. Document the process - and the growth. I need to have my hair off my to-do list for a while. That's all. My hair grew a lot when I always out braids in my hair every couple months. So I may just need to do that again.
Decisions, Decisionsssssssss
I will let you know - obviously....
Peace!
Hey all, hows it goin’ ?
Good. Great. Fantastic..
So anyway people – I have been trying to vlog but have been super tired and can’t get the energy to really do what I gots to do. So I decided to just do this instead..
PRODUCT REVIEW!!
So, I bought some of these from Sally’s and some from Shoppers Drug Mart (equivalent to Walgreens or something in USA) – and made it a mission of sorts to get Argan Oil in most of the products I picked up. On Tuesday I washed my dry, damaged and literally unkempt hair and the next day – though my bantu-knot-out didnt come out the way I had hoped - my hair was EXTREMELY SOFT and healthy looking. So let’s go ahead:
1. PROCLAIM INTENSE MOISTURIZING SHAMPOO:
Love this shampoo! It’s everything it says it is!
I was sort of hesitant about it cause well – I used a protein hair mask from them and it really wasn’t all that great. I wasn’t sure what I did wrong or what, but it wasn’t the greatest ever….at all.
However, this shampoo is AMAZING and I am pretty sure I have found a holy grail Shampoo. Which is quite new. Before this I had been using Kinky Curly’s Come Clean Shampoo – which is a great clarify and doesn’t strip my hair of any natural oils…but my hair is extremely dry at times and the last few months I had been stressed out and not taking care of my hair and skin – thus my hair was also damaged! So I needed more than “not stripping my natural oils..” I needed MOISTURE!
The Proclaim Intense Moisturizing Shampoo is awesome for that. It definetely clarifies – leaving my scalp clean of build up and my strands clear and healthy looking – all the while adding intense moisturizer! My hair was soft and manageable for 3 whole days – with JUST THE SHAMPOO. As in NO Conditioner and NO leave-in and NO Hair Lotions and NO Butters….just the shampoo alone.
Buy it again?

2. MARC ANTHONY TRUE PROFESSIONAL CONDTIONER
Alright so when it comes to conditioners I always really love having SLIP&MANAGEABLITY. Those are the two deal breakers for me. Prior to this conditioner I had been using Aussie Moist Conditioner – it has HEAVY SLIPPAGE and makes me hair very easy to comb in the shower. This MARC ANTHONY conditioner is a little tricky.. It did something I haven’t had a condioner (other than Mixed Chicks – which was used on me at a Salon) to make my curls POP when I came out of the shower. However, the slip was pretty weak. Yet my hair looked very defined and healthy out of the shower. I am slightly confused on it…
Buy it again?
Maybe not.
3.5/5
3. GARNIER FRUCTIS LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER
It’s good. I mean – it really isn’t anything exciting and I am probably going to try a different leave-in once I am finished with this one, however it does what it’s supposed to do. It definitely combats frizz and leaves my hair sleek and shiny. I applied it and raked it through my wet hair and left it in for about 15 minutes. It was really slippery – but I would’nt use it daily. I would only use it after a big wash day or a co-wash…that is all though.
Buy it again?
Nah…
3.5/5
3. DESIGN ESSENTIALS NATURAL DAILY MOISTURIZING LOTION
This was really one of those things where I was in need of moisture and would go as far as picking something up – that I have never heard of before – in order to achieve results. Thank goodness I looked at the back. It is SILICON FREE, MINERAL OIL FREE, PARABEN FREE, PARAFFIN FREE, & PETROLEUM FREE! Has an array of natural oils and great natural ingredients inside and I AM HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT. The only thing I don’t appreciate is the fact that it’s so slippery and sticks to your hands to where you have to be wiping your hands all over the towel for 3 minutes in order to LIVE! That is the only annoyance.. however it is definitely a moisturizing lotion that can be used daily on wet or dry hair. I used it on my damp hair and it penetrated my strands and left them really soft. Then I used it a few days later on a dry and not so good bantu-knot out and it made it look better! Odd, but I will run with it! It defined my curls and moisturized my strands. I love it ! I will definitely try more products from the Design Essentials Natural line. For sure.
Buy it again?
Yes.
4.8/5
4. The Tangle Teezer
I love it. I am happy with it. It works for my coarse 4b hair and definitely makes detangling a lot easier than it used to be – thus time moves a lot faster when styling! I recommend it to anyone who’s on the fence about it. You really don’t have anything to lose! I like it better than the Denman because it’s so flexible – yet it gets the tangles. Denman can potentially rip my hair out at times so… I like this one a lot better. I just think the Denman is a lot easier to clean.
Buy it again?
If I lose it, yeah for sure.
5/5
So that is it for today’s product review!
Hope it helped some folks and such! Stay tuned for a lot more – my next review will be on the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie! I love it so hard! My twist out came out PERFECT!!! The best twist out of my entire Natural Headed Life!
Anyway….
See you next time!

Thrifted belt: 10$
Cannot remember the sunnies, but I know I got them from Little Burgundy.
And New lipliner was 3.99 at the superstore from some brand called Milani?
Decided to try and do my first OOTD and update you on how I am getting along with Shea Moisture..
A tutorial will be coming soon on how I did my mini twists and a SECRET I used on the bag of my head to not only (a) make it appear like I have a haircut but to also (b) enhance my curl pattern so that I didn't have to even twist it to begin with! On 4b - 4c hair! Well, I will admit that my back is more of a 3c-4a situation...but either way... IT SHALL BE COMING SOON!

Just one of the photos from what I was preparing for the next post.
For details follow me on instagram, twitter and tumblr!
You can get updates there before anyone else on this blog.
I did a mini twist out with just shea moisture.
Turned out well.
I also wanted ti try my hand at doing lootd and ootd!
See you later!
So, there are certainly days where I feel like - I am WAY too tired and have no energy to do any styles that I want. Also, at the length my hair is at - it is sometimes difficult to just do a quick hair prep. With medium-short 4b/4c/ hair - it isn't as easy as a simple couple of braids. Especially as a student, it's as if time is your enemy and your energy is going to SO MANY things already...
So sometimes I just want to do something easy and quick. I love Headwraps and Scarves for this reason. You can completely hide your head all the while looking great! However, sometimes I get bored of just a head wrap and still want my hair to be a start as well - even if I didn't give it the time of day... whoops.
So The video coming up will be a simple video of what I do when I don't have time to prep MY HAIR. Some naturals have the length to whip it into place with a few bobby pins and some hairbands. But not moi.
The upcoming tutorial will be quick and easy and just a show and tell type thing.
From start to finish.

I started with an old and shriveled up Bantu Knot-Out it was on its 4th day or something.. Then parted the front so that I could put the rest in an old stocking cap I made when I was younger in my permed days...Have not put that on my head in FOREVER! Anyway... So I spritzed some of my Conditioner and Water concoction onto my hair and fingercombed.
Then I used HAIRepair by ORS on my ends to keep them smooth and to prevent breakage. After I used the Curl Enhancing Smoothie by Shea Moisture and applied a semi-generous amount on each section of hair then proceeded to braid. I then went to bed with 5 braids in the front of my head while the back was a complete WTF.

In the morning I used ORS Olive Oil Sheen Spray on my braids and then took them out. I simply tied a scarf around the back end of my head. I feel like it looks cute and pin-up ish.
After all that I fiddled around a but until I came with a position I liked for my braid-out section. Took a bobby pin and had it sit to one side.
& Then I went downtown and NO ONE NOTICED A DAMN THING..
Mwahaha..

ABOUT THE NEW BLOG:
In my past blog on Blogger.com it was all about being “EMANCIPATED” – I was a teen in high-school and went to Blogger in order to vent or to really express my thoughts and feelings about my Natural Hair Transition and my High School life, which included crushes and experiences and friends and , well – “enemies”. I have always stuck to living MY LIFE and living it MY WAY. Within reason, of course. :p
NOW, on this WordPress Blog I am taking a similar direction. I have already lived life EMANCIPATED. I have already figured out my personal style and my personal interests. No one is holding me back from who I want to be. Thus now, my only objective is to live life (extra)Ordinary! I say Ordinary because it should be ORDINARY to live your life to the fullest. It should be Ordinary to live your life Extraordinarily! Which is why I have the “extra” in the brackets.
So this is a new journey on ME taking risks, living life and taking all the opportunities that come my way. All the while MAKING new opportunities. For me and for others. I want to live life EXTRAORDINARILY!

Get into it!
Okay,
So hello everyone and how is it going in the world of YOU? I hope whomever may or may not be reading this is having a pretty good day so far. I feel like I am really talking to no one. I haven't been on here as often as I used to - however I have a laptop again. However, with one shit thing comes a great thing - which is I have a laptop again, but I have lost my Camera charger....so...shit.
That is sort of okay - I guess I will use my Note 2 as a camera for the time being until.... I can find a new charger or get a new camera all together. You know?
So anywaysss...
My HAIR UPDATES!!
Okay so as you may not have known I finally did the HUGE DOOKIE BRAIDS thing and I am out here looking like I should be on the set of Friday or Juice or Poetic Justice or some shit. Which is great cause that is sort of what I was looking for. I used about 9 packs of Kanekalon in my head...the first 2 days were brutal - however I am cool now. My hair has been in braids for maybe....2 months? 3 months? It feels like 2 but my hair grows fast so it is starting to look a little....interesting now ....if you know what I mean.
I have been debating cornrows or something. But seeing as I may not have enough cashola to get my hair braided again...cause most of the money went to the braids to be honest...the hairdresser thought I was crazy - but....nah I just really needed NINE PACKS.
Okay so, yeah... I think I will give my hair a break from the false hair and just work with it as is for a month. Until I gather some more funds to fix it up. I mean - its great to not have to do my hair everyday to every other day but - sometimes I want to have a little one on one with my hair.... and long hair is def something I need to hold off on for a bit - I need my NECK to get a break.
So I have bought 3 new hair products (and one new face product..cause I am having skin troubles..)
Went to Sally's this afternoon and bought the following which I will be trying out later in the week:
I finally got the Tangle Teezer!
It's in pink and I have heard so much GREATNESS from this product all over the natural-hair-blog-and-vlogoshphere about it...so... I got it.
It was only 16.59 with my Beauty Club Card.
I got the Proclaim Argan Oil Shampoo
and I got ....some wide tooth combs.
MORE later!
I will still need to take out my braids soo..
MORE LATER!

My afro is coming back around!!
I mean, I still need a trim case the ends are just absolutely treacherous, thus it is kind of ruining the results of my twist outs and braid outs. However, I have a good feeling about my hair so far. Everyone has really been going natural in my area lately and they all need help...and ... I CAN DO IT!
Its just people up here don't take help when it is offered to them, or they offer help without actually remembering they offered that help. Which kinda bugs me...
When I offer to help you, I actually mean it and expect you to take the offer. However, at the same time I am not going to run after you - I feel like if you want it, come get it. Makes sense to me. So, I am not really getting too overworked by it. I am just going with the flow.
In other news,
My close and only aunt passed away last week Thursday with a sudden massive heart attack at 43. Leaving behind 2 teens who are now living with me, our grandma and our uncle. It is a big shift situation and everyone is taking it in their own way. Its been a bit hectic trying to keep the young ones in check - you know, they aren't used to the way my grandmother lives. In my house we have strict rules and regulations and ...well - they have A LOT to get used to. I don't want to write too much about that - I feel like it is definitely something that should be mentioned in case I make a post about my cousins irritating me - cause sometimes we bump heads due to the different mannerisms we have.
So...yeah..
In other, OTHER news...
I GOT MY CAMERA BACK!! WHOO!
So ... I CAN MAKE VLOGS AGAIN WHOO!!
I am glad about that - I have been really missing the vlogging I used to due, and also lost all my confidence to actually talk about something interesting. So, we shall see how it goes. I have been complimented a few times on my blog and vlog - so I think its alright. I will get on it.
In the meantime, I have a lot of catching up to do at school shit,
you know - I really really REALLY fucked up this year - SO I am hoping I can do a little something to do better for my last month of school. I will try to talk to my admins to see what can happen. I DO have circumstances ON TOP OF circumstances that could help me get out of this so...yeah.
I just have to get around to doing it.
SO!!
That is all, this has been a very unorganized post...sorry.

So!
Okay, I am back trying to be on this blog again. I have fixed it up to make it reflect who I am NOW.
I mean, I started this blog in 2008 or something, and didn't change much until now. All I changed was the font and the banner (once)... This time, though it may seem as though I just changed up a few minor things. However... I fiddled around with a whole bunch of shit, to the point where - I am not even sure if it was fruitless or not..
...
Anyway, enough about the boring re-vamp nonsense. I mean, the only troubling thing is that I have changed my URL. Thus, everyone who had me on their blog as a link ...will have the wrong damn blog. So.. I probably should have thought that out. I was just so excited I didn't even think about it. You know? So, that is why I said "Started From The Bottom"..haha.
I used to blog from everywhere, the Library. The House. The bus. So I am going to try and do that again, mind you it is a little difficult cause Blackberry's browser is on some NEXT SHIT completely. Which brings me to how I want to operate this blog now that I am a YOUNG ADULT now. I will try my best to uh - not swear as much. You know, this blog is a reflection of me and who I am outside of a professional setting so I will work on not swearing as much as I used to. Maybe this blog will become a lot more presentable that way. I will attempt to use other words in the dictionary and thesaurus in order to express myself.
-sigh-
| My hair about a year ago in braids. |
In other news.
My hair is .... in need of some serious TLC.
I am talking about a trim, deep condition and cuddle. I have gone through a lot man. Braids. A hair cut. Haircut growing out and getting tangled. Twists and now it is in a fro again.

PEACE, LOVE & TEA!
Another vid from my new yt channel!
I sort of wanted that "shaped" look, but I never had my hair shaped before and I am not going to the barber to get a full on hair cut...
So I decided to Fake it out, and see the outcome.
Take a look!
So I am swamped in book work OH MY GOSH! But oh well, I am trying my best here...
I've been doing a lot of retail therapy that I should not be doing... especially since I need a new laptop. But this week is the last week I am going to spend carelessly. Hopefully.
REGIMENS AND ROUTINES
HAIR
Hair style of choice right now is a twist out on damp/almost dry hair.
I spritz it and then use castor oil, and Shea butter to moisten. Then gel to twist and activate some curls. In the morning I take it out using my Universal Styling creme by Aveda. It is really the only way it comes in handy - other than taking out twists, braids and bantus it sucks. So I definitely recommend the Aveda Styling Creme if you want something to take your twists out or your braids out or your bantu knots out.
As for washing... I am still trying to get into being diligent about my hair regimen. However, I am trying to avoid products that work, but leave my hair in bad shape. Such as petroleum.... and calcium building products. I am possibly going to do a Baking Soda or ACV rinse.
As for my FACE...
Cold weather is here and I finally bought the Cleanse Off Oil by M.A.C. It fcking rocks my socks off, and it is so relaxing and makes taking off my makeup not so terribly tiring anymore! I use the double cleansing method. I wrote about tihs a long time ago on my other blog, which is pretty much NOT BEING USED.
I have run out of Essence, however this is what I do....

The 5 steps are:
1. Double cleansing —> 2. Massage & mask —> 3. Tone —> 4. Essence —> 5. Moisturize.
You can read more about the double cleanse here: http://k-popped.com/2008/04/korean-
I have run out of Essence, however this is what I do....
- Use the cleanse off oil to get rid of makeup
- Cleanse again with a gel cleanser (it doesn't matter, but I prefer gel clensers. I go back and forth from Neutrogena , Nivea and St Ives... which is a cream cleanser and exfoliant)
- Mask. (I do this once or twice a week)
- Tone my face. I dont own a toner right now, so I am using the OFF YOUR FACE wipes by Soap&Glory
- Essence and/or Rosehip oil massage.
- Moisturizer. I use St Ives Collagen lotion or OLAY classic moisturizer ..
I may do a video if I am bored, and to illustrate these steps better. This is what I do at night though.
In the day:
- Rinse/Wash my face with lukewarm/cold water
- Pat dry.
- Massage 1-2 drops of rosehip oil onto my face.
- Optional: A little moisturizer before makeup routine.
That seems to be all for now. Have a great few days, while I bust my ass trying to get school work done!
I put my hair back a lot due to lack of time to style it... and I mostly do braid-outs
I had a lacefront for a week but hated it... the wind was too much for me! I used to do bantu-knot outs.... but the time it takes to do it is too much for me lately... so... yeah.
I really need to dust my ends, or do a full on TRIMMING! I haven't trimmed since August! -___-
That is all.
So far so good, I just tried a dab on dry hair to see how it works. Its pretty good I guess, but I have to use it on my styling time rather than in my friend's bathroom. Haha.
The smell is pretty good. It smells really .... Organic. Haha. My HD webcam is making ,my videos SHITTY.... so I dont think I will be able to make a video in a long time. I'll try to fix it though. Anyway, the Humectant pomade is like jello, like if you tap the container it vibrates haha! And it comes in small packages, but a little goes a very long way. So we'll see how it works out.
Another thing is Paddle Brushes. Yo' man, fck Denman! Cheap Goodie (or anykind) Paddle Brushes ROCK ASS! However, I feel like Denman is good for styling, but not for De-tangling, it feels like it rips. The Paddle Brush made my in-shower De-tangling process so much faster, I didn't even have to separate the hair! Oh my gosh. Seriously don't believe all you hear about how paddle brushes are for white people or people with straight hair / curly-wavy hair. Paddle brushes are cheap and it works. It gives a little curl definition too. Not as drastic as the Denman... but you can work it out.
As for my trip to Aveda (man this post is ALL OVER THE PLACE) I didn't buy the Curl enhancer because the stylist said I didn't need curl enhancement I need curl definition, which was right, so she advised me to just buy the Universal styling creme and the pomade. In addition to that I was offered a free cup of tea and a free hand massage. WHICH WAS ORGASMIC! Like holy crap... all the troubles of my life passed through my hands and into the air.
Hahaha....seriously though.
So next on my June wishlist is:

Hey!
Today is the LONGEST DAY OF THE YEAR!
..... and I have been awoken at 5:20AM -sigh- .
Welp, I hope everyone has some wicked plans for this summer, I'm pretty ssure my summer will be moderately fun for the most part. Going to a cottage for weekend its going to be my first time at Wasaga beach. So.. we'll see whats so great about it. I'll take photos if I can. Also, my evil grandmother from the states is going to staying in Toronto for a WHOLE MONTH. Ugh I wish I had a job to get away from the whole endeavor. Oh well.. you do what you do. I think my dad and sister know I am not too fond of the old lady so they aren't surprised by my sudden absence.
Enough about me and MY ISSUES!
Going to buy that stuff from my summer hair wishlist this weekend! ^_^
If I really like the results I will forget about putting my hair back in braids until September. The results I am looking for are curl definition and weight. I want my hair to have some more hang and less bunched-up-nesss. I also want some more curl definition and I did some searching and found that many naturals with my hair type recommended those Aveda products for 4b/4a hair.

I love love LOVE Be Curly! It's not my only hair product, but anytime I wear my hair in a wash/go style this is my product. My curls are super defined and lovely. I let it air dry and add a little oil. Definitely a product I'll never stray from.

The question is what you looking for? If you like crunchy curls this isn't your product. But if you love smooth curls, you got it!

| Join Date: Sep 2006 Posts: 18 | I recently just started using Aveda hair products and I'm absolutely in love! Yes, they are pricey but it's well worth it. One product that has worked fabulously is their Confixor liquid gel, which is vegan! I put it on my hair for twist outs and my goodness, I have like perfect mini spirals formed!!! I have tried countless gels and never got this results and there's hardly any crunch but the hold is great. Has anyone tried Aveda b4 and had success with them???? |
