Who knew that minimizing the things in your wardrobe would be one of the hardest things to ever happen in life?
For those who don’t know - a capsule wardrobe is essentially the idea of creating less stress on your life in regards to what you’re going to wear - and making more time for more meaningful things in life! This happens by leaving your closet in a state where you can always match things together and no matter what you mix and match, every outfit will reveal itself in barely any time at all!
So as for my journey to this capsule wardrobe //
First I had to organize and “get rid” of all the things I could do without. I put those things in bags and set them far away - forcing myself to try and live with the number of clothing items I had.
SIDE NOTE CONFESSIONAL:
The author of this blog (aka: me) has a small tendency to KEEP EVERY SINGLE THING I OWN, it's just hard to let go of things. So I came up with a helpful concept that helps me tremendously when ridding myself of all the life clutter. Which is:
If I haven't used it in less than 1 year, get rid of it. If I don't see why I would really need to use this in the next 2 years - get rid of it.
After getting comfortable with that, I was able to organize what should be donated and what should be held onto.
Now I have to actually …. Donate those clothes.. I've been procrastinating on that. However in the meantime, I've been buying clothes while keeping my general look in mind - like, what colour schemes are in my closet, what would last and what would not.
Also, when shopping, it’s really important to pick up items that will last long classic items and items that have a lot more quality. Don’t be afraid to buy something a tad more expensive as long as the quality is legit and you are sure it will last you.
Even if you have to stand in the change room staring at it on you for 15 min. (Which I am sure I ended up doing)
Hope everyone's having a great December so far -I am! Lot's of changes and lots of goals yet to accomplish before the end of the year! I find that setting goals make it easier to tackle things you need/want one at a time. Here's my list so far:
change my job location
de-clutter and minimize my life
show off my strengths more and don't be afraid of success anymore
pursue happiness always and choose love first - remember to do what you love.
I will definitely be talking more about my list and goal setting at a later date, since that's just not what this post is about today -but bottom line is, I am super excited for 2016!
So let me just express that these products are all products that I've been using continuously throughout this year, meaning that no matter how many products I try, I'll always restock on these! These are the products that I find work best for my skin, and though they may not work for everyone - they are awesome! I encourage you to try them out, but of course keep in mind that everyone's skin is very different - and I am NO PRO! Haha
My skin is combination OILY. Its a little difficult how oily my skin gets, so these are all products that get my skin to be NORMAL, as in dewy/matte and clear.
Usually I'd use the foaming cleanser, but I tried cream this time, only because I find that cream cleansers don't leave my skin feeling has dry - that's not to say the foaming cleanser did, but I just prefer cream cleansers. The deep clean with this thing, is AWESOME and my skin is just super clean and soft - my little acne moments are also no match for this! I don't have acne prone skin, but any time I ever get my moments (usually when my time of the month arrives or when I react weirdly to something) this comes CLUTCH! It feels good, and it's a definite staple in my clear skin routine.
Marcelle // Makeup Removing Cleansing Cloths
Honestly, no matter what happens I always come back to Marcelle. The first time I tried this, Shoppers Drug Mart was having a crazy sale, these usually retail for $13.00 but that day they were like FIVE DOLLARS! I've always wanted to try the brand out - so I got 25 cloths for 5 bucks and a pack of like 40 or 50 for $10! Woah! I bought 5 of these.
These cloths are super fast and effective for daily makeup removal, I usually wear foundations and the works and this stuff removes everything ad leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean. Its great to use before washing your face and for the days that you are truly so tired you can't find the energy to wash your face.
LUSH Cosmetics // Dark Angels Cleanser
I've actually been buying this for 2 years now, and it's the best thing that's ever happened to me. This can be used as daily cleanser and even an exfoliating mask! A little goes a very long way, and its 100% Vegan! I always turn to this cleanser when I am experiencing some serious cystic acne - this stuff works great when removing dead skin (using black sugar + charcoal) and keeping my skin soft and matte (with the help of avocado oil) while deep cleansing to take away acne. It smells AMAZING - well, I love the smell of lavender and floral scents (it contains rosewood oil) , so I am always so excited to use this before bed. Its a very calming scent which makes me feel like I'm getting a luxurious spa treatment - if it weren't so messy I'd love it even more. It gets a bit messy if you have a white on white bathroom. Bonus: Works as a Body Scrub as well!
Dr. Dennis Gross // Alpha Beta Peel
This is tricky.
It works great - but it's SUPER EXPENSIVE so I probably wouldn't buy this again, I feel like it is a staple based on consistency and knowing it works - but I will try and look elsewhere next time. Defs try this though! It does make my skin balanced, smooth and I didn't notice the lift but I noticed the firmness!
Aveeno // Shave Gel
Sometimes when I shave my sensitive skin tends to burn, get bumpy (as in a rash, not a razor bump) and I have serious discomfort when anything touches my legs. This shave gel was suggested to me from a best friend and since then - shaving is a BREEZE. Love this! Its a nice texture and its thick - it is also soothing going on the skin as well. I mean, its honestly a shaving gel so there isn't much to say - but it's certainly a really awesome product. I can't find any other shave gel that will soothe my skin.
Hopefully this was a little helpful to some!
Looking forward to helping my minimal lifestyle chance by keeping up with products that work and using my staples always.
(This is going to be incredibly quick - since its 3:20AM and I just came back from a long work day - TGIF is right! Whooo... )
Honestly, I am listening to this entire album on repeat. All the tracks on this album are so great; the sound, the flow, the lyrics, the feeling. Its perfect for my Modern Slow-Jams playlist and its perfect music to work to - it has enough of a tempo for me to feel focused and ready to work - but yet chill enough to keep me leveled and not too flustered and distracted.
My Fave songs right now:
All The Way Down
These ones are slightly on the more pop-y side - not that their annoying I'd say it sounds like a 90s rnb style a lot of the time - but its still really unique while keeping classic. Love it.
First, I would like to express that I am no longer coming back to say I am back - we will just see how things go, and if I stick to blogging this time - it's real.
So now onto what this is really about! ETSY! ...Well, it is about Etsy and other small online businesses that I now frequent for all things unique and awesome! My wallet is screaming, but my happiness is through the roof! Online shopping is dangerous for me, I tend to forget that the money I use online is still the money I use everyday - I think when you stop seeing the money leaving your hands and going into a store clerk's it becomes easier to forget that you're buying tonnes of stuff.
Granted, some items are still on their merry way over to my mailbox, however I am excited to say I received one of my purchases in the mail (way earlier than promised!) from PRIMECUT! It started with my new found obsession with animal hide items, I had favourited a phone case made with animal hide - it was super cute, and Rihanna had one so obviously I had to have one as well...In any case I searched all over etsy but it looks like within a year of not seeing it, I had to pass up and move on, and I came across PRIMECUT and ToniMay.
Let me say that I will be a loyal buyer to PRIMECUT, since they delivered my stuff almost RIGHT AWAY and it wasa supposed to get to me by December,4 and arrived from Portland to Toronto on November 25th. Thank you...as for ToniMay, I am not sure if it's cause they are making my item or something, but it hasn't even been sent out yet.
So for now I will just review PRIMECUT since it's here and I love it...
salt + pepper cardholder (30$ USD)
So, I was hoping it would be a bit bigger, but I knew what I signed up for...
It's a cardholder but I used it for my loose change and bills and my most frequently used card of choice, as a way to always have exactly what I need. Its so cute and I can't stop looking at it. It's handmade (in case you didn't know that etsy only sells handmade items) and it looks made to last. It holds a lot surprisingly, and is a cool chic addition to my vegan leather lunchbox clutch (also purchased on etsy). It's awesome, I love it and I actually want EVERYTHING PRIMECUT has to offer. It is just a bit expensive for me cause I am in Canada and our dollar is sort of trash right now.
In any case, this cute pouch gets 10/10 for style, function and price!
I'll be back with more! Hopefully I can see the ToniMay purchase soon. I'll talk more about how I shop in Etsy later!
